Our Values Are participated in the massive nationwide "Hands Off!" demonstrations that took place across the United States on April 5th. As crowds gathered in cities from Manhattan to San Francisco, our message of equality, respect, and kindness aligned perfectly with the thousands of protesters standing up for fundamental human rights¹.
The demonstrations represented a powerful moment of collective action, with citizens voicing concerns about threats to Social Security, healthcare access, immigrant rights, and LGBTQ+ protections². The values represented in these protests mirror the core principles of the Our Values Are project.
These nationwide events highlight exactly why the Our Values Are project exists - to create visible symbols of our shared commitment to human dignity when these values face challenges. In a time when many feel their rights and protections are under threat, standing together and making our values visible becomes more important than ever³.
The nationwide turnout demonstrates that despite our differences, many Americans remain united in their belief that every person deserves respect, dignity, and protection of their basic rights - values that are at the heart of our project.
